I’m frozen from standing outside but I saw the comet again. I walked out back to the open field – a few minutes walk at most. I had to wait quite a while because the comet was hidden by clouds on the horizon but the wait was worth it! The tail is so long! Wow!

What a gorgeous comet this has been. I loved seeing it from here in the Northern Hemisphere, but the amazing photos from the southern hemisphere are awe-inspiring. I’ve read the tail is so large that we might even be able to see the tail above the horizon from here in the northern hemisphere. After a couple of upcoming cloudy nights, I hope to give viewing a shot by mid-week.

Darmok, lots of great online pictures. My skies have been blocked by heavy cloud cover since the 11th so I only saw the comet those first three days I went out to look for it — the 8th, 9th and 10th.
I’m feeling a bit deprived now. 😦 You didn’t get to see it at all!

Mary, this comet, since it will be so close to the sun, worries me a bit. A small CME left the sun almost two days ago in the direction the comet will initially appear on SOHO’s telescope images.
I’ll be out again this evening to see if it is visible. Too bad I don’t have the right kind of camera equipment because the sunsets have been vivid at that time.
Darmok – is there a place nearby you can go to have a better view of the horizon?
