I’m frozen from standing outside but I saw the comet again. I walked out back to the open field – a few minutes walk at most. I had to wait quite a while because the comet was hidden by clouds on the horizon but the wait was worth it! The tail is so long! Wow!

The comet connected me with other people which would not have happened otherwise. 🙂
What a gorgeous comet this has been. I loved seeing it from here in the Northern Hemisphere, but the amazing photos from the southern hemisphere are awe-inspiring. I’ve read the tail is so large that we might even be able to see the tail above the horizon from here in the northern hemisphere. After a couple of upcoming cloudy nights, I hope to give viewing a shot by mid-week.
Pollyann, thank you; I hope you found something on my weblog to capture your interest!
Darmok, lots of great online pictures. My skies have been blocked by heavy cloud cover since the 11th so I only saw the comet those first three days I went out to look for it — the 8th, 9th and 10th.
I’m feeling a bit deprived now. 😦 You didn’t get to see it at all!
Btw, I have read some of your weblog so far. I happened to catch a link to one of your posts while following another link from my stats page.
Polyann, yeah, I did see some nice online pictures at least!
Alan, you’re welcome; I’m glad to help.
That’s okay, Alan! English as a 2nd or 3rd language accepted! 🙂
Sorry!! My english is bad!
Thanks Darmok!! –> My traslator oficial!! jeje

Good luck, Darmot! Did you catch the comet images online as it came into view? Thanks for translating Alan’s message.
I’m hoping to spot it tonight.
I’d translate Alan’s comment as:
Hi, Alan in Argentina! I will have to translate your message. 🙂
Great! Yo estoy esperando que se despeje el cielo para observarlo!!
Saludos – Alan

Mary, this comet, since it will be so close to the sun, worries me a bit. A small CME left the sun almost two days ago in the direction the comet will initially appear on SOHO’s telescope images.
I’ll be out again this evening to see if it is visible. Too bad I don’t have the right kind of camera equipment because the sunsets have been vivid at that time.
Darmok – is there a place nearby you can go to have a better view of the horizon?
Ditto that!! 😦
I’m jealous! I’m still hoping to spot it but I have a poor view of the horizon in that direction.
